Normally, if you want to moderate your blog comments, most of us usually login to WordPress Admin to check for any new comments awaiting to be moderated. Now you don't have to do that because there is a plugin can help you to view and moderate your blog comments directly from your desktop.

That plugin is Moderator - written by Daniel Dura. It's not only a WP plugin but also an application that notifies whenever there is a new comment submitted on your blog, something similar to Yahoo Messenger or Gtalk.

Plugin Features:

  • Viewing unmoderated comments.
  • Dock and system tray notifications of the number of unmoderated comments.
  • Accept, delete, and spam comments from within the desktop client.
  • Close application window, or minimize it to the system tray while running.
  • Shows the Gravatar icons for the user who posted the comment.

Requirements

Moderator currently requires version 2.6+ of WordPress be installed. Also, you will need Adobe AIR 1.1, which runs on Mac, Windows, and is currently in beta on Linux.

Installation

  1. Download the current plugin bundle from here. (moderator_plugin.zip | 72KB)
  2. Unzip the contents of the archive and place them in your WordPress install directory under {wordpress install}/wp-content/plugins. You should now have a directory called ‘moderator’ in the plugins folder.
  3. Login to your administration panel, and go to the Plugins page. Activate the Moderator plugin by clicking on the ‘Activate’ link in the entry for this plugin.
  4. Now that the plugin is activated, go to the Settings tab and select the Moderator admin page. Follow the instructions on that page to install the desktop client.

I think this is a very useful plugin that you can start using to make your comment moderation easily!

With a port of the SE G700/G900 Flash firmware support, our P1i can now play swf files (not flv files yet) :) . A big thanks to SWmail - a super  modder/hacker for UIQ3, you can visit his site to try more intersting mods here.

This mod intended to play Flash contents on Opera Mobile on SE UIQ3 smartphones.

Tested on: P1i (R6G04/R9K009/GW1), P990i (R9GA001/R6E28), M600i, W950i, W960i
Note: G700/G900 smartphones with last firmware already have FlashPlugin.

Installation: (taken from swmail's readme):

Now you can play flash from your smartphone's by using Opera opens link like 'd:/myflash/flash.swf' but before opening, you must do the following:

  • Start Opera
  • Go to More >> Settings >> Configuration >> and tick "Allow Plugins"

Enjoy Flash support! And if you like SWMail's work, you can donate to encourage him to continue :)

PS: after testing on my P1i, I realize that this mod could make the phone play swf files only with small size (less than 2MB), if you play a larger files, the quality will not be very smooth.

MailPress allows you to send any e-mail notification issued for comments subscribers, your periodic newsletters (per post/daily/weekly/monthly) and some specific admin events : registration of a new user, comment to moderate, new comment on your posts in styled html or plain text mails based on dedicated themes and templates.

Several add-ons are available as zip files in the mailpress folder. They are in fact WordPress plugins interacting with MailPress. The basic idea is to keep the core of MailPress as stable as possible and to use the WordPress API to propose some add-ons, making MailPress completely scalable to your needs.

Social bookmarking has become more and more popular on the internet. According to this trend, our WordPress has also plugins that help us to accomplish this without putting forth too much effort.

Social Bookmarking

This concept is pretty simple. Social Bookmarking is when people who like your product (articles) literally bookmark that product on a Social Networking site. StumbleUpon, for example, lets users setup an account and bookmark sites. With Digg, users submit their product and people can digg (favourite) it, as well as comment and further share it.

WordPress Plugins

I chose Sociable (the first one above) for my blog because this plugin is very easy to use, it supports actually 96 social sites (include email and print links) so your readers can bookmark your articles quickly. But why did I put a few of them ? Because too many icons will make you blog be in confusion so I choose those I think it's popular. :)
